Sudden Relocation, need help finding a place in Cape Town

Hey all.

So I've landed myself in a bit of a situation here and I am looking for some advice.

Very suddenly and unexpectedly had to move to Cape Town.
Managed to secure a decent job (given circumstances), but now I am really struggling to actually find a place to stay.

Ideally, I've been looking around the southern train line, as my workplace is right by the Newlands station.
Problem is, it seems like the students have completely wiped out all the available options in my price range.

I've been searching the depths of Facebook, Property24, Roomies and JustProperty.
The second I see something decent, I message, its gone.
Worse, I fill out the application and then only AFTER do they tell me its gone.

Not looking for anything fancy. A room in a house, garden cottage, flat share, all is fine by me.
Just something reasonably priced and hopefully near the southern trainline so that I can afford to get to work.

If anyone here has advice, knows of something that can help out, even places to look around that I can actually commute from, I would greatly appreciate it.

Budget and whether you have your own transport (you mentioned the train, but not whether it's an option or the only option) would help.

A few friends who moved recently said suburbs like Goodwood, Parow, and Plumstead still have decent rental prices and quick access to transport
I used discountmoving.ca during my own move and it kept the whole process way less stressful, especially with the packing and unloading
While you hunt for a spot, try checking WhatsApp community groups or Facebook neighbourhood pages, as places often pop up there before hitting the big platforms
